Description

Perched high in the Wasatch Mountains, this Red Tail Hawk family raises their chicks. This morning, one of the tiny chicks proudly stretches his wings in the morning light.

Their enormous nest is perched near the top of a juniper tree. I set up my photography blind on the side of a steep and unstable slope, long before the babies even hatched, and photographed them every three days from the time they were in their eggs until they bravely took off on their first flights.
