THE STORY BEHIND MY OIL PAINTINGS
My love of oil painting spans my lifetime yet it wasn’t until 2018 that I finally decided it was time to give this medium a try.
I come from a long line of artists, and my grandma (who happened to live next door) was an oil painter. When I was eight years old, she took me to one of her oil painting classes. We each had our own canvas and after I managed to get a beautiful sunset full of vibrant colors across mine, I was afraid to paint the foreground… a black silhouette of a tree.
I just couldn’t bring myself to do it, for fear of messing up what I was so proud of already. Grandma smiled lovingly and knew just what to do. With the paintbrush in my left hand, she placed her right hand over mine and helped guide my hand. Together, we painted a black tree over my sunset colors. It worked out pe...
