Description
I've often imagined Vincent van Gogh standing at the Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, quietly observing the night sky. This is my artistic homage to Vincent and his creative masterpiece -- from one artist to another.
It's said that artists see the world differently, but perhaps this gift of sight is innate in all of us -- artists merely learn to retain it. I was born into a long line of artists, so seeing the world creatively is all I've known.
I think of my artist's vision as seeing what's there rather than what I've been told to believe -- since the majority of this God-given world exists far beyond the physical limitations of our eyes.
Instead of labeling, categorizing, or identifying an object, an artist carefully observes the individual shape, color, contour and how the light and shadow interact with every part.
That said, it's impossible to separate where the shape and color end and the observation of energy begins. Energy influences every color, shape, emotion, feeling, action, and even the direction of the wind.
Certain art pieces resonate with our hearts and emotions because those energies are innately woven into the art. To truly experience art is to feel it deeply.
Artists are critically valuable as they observe and record the energy around them and translate it into art for others to experience. So often, what an artist renders is a window into the larger, more profound realm that surrounds us all.
And perhaps this quiet observation is the key -- to stand in nature and gaze into the starry night.
When we regularly practice the art of quiet stillness, we often see far more than we imagined -- we see glimpses of the original artist, the creator of all things... we see the fingerprints of God.

Mind=blown. Wow, very nice!
Lori Grimmett replied:
Thank you, Paul. Your "Mind=blown." compliment is the best one I've had in a long time. It makes me smile. I love it! Thank you!

This piece is part of a series of paintings I call "glowography" paintings (writing with glowing light). The painting glows in the dark for up to twelve hours -- in vibrant colors. As the eyes adjust to the light and the glow increases (like the sun setting and stars appearing) it's almost magical! Truly a sight to behold!! :)
